Exciting for Many Reasons

Election Day 2018 was exciting for many reasons. As the president of the Scranton Library Friends, I want to share the reason for my excitement with my fellow Madison residents.

With short notice, and in the pouring rain, The Scranton Library Friends held a bake sale in front of the Senior Center. We offered free-of-charge baked goods asking only a donation. Madison citizens really came through for us. We received $1,280 in donations. This amount will be donated to our beloved Scranton Memorial Library, funds especially needed during the expansion and remodeling project.

Additionally, a trustee of the Scranton Memorial Library has matched our earnings, thereby doubling the total donation amount to $2,560. Our library will make very good use of these funds.

Thanks go to all community residents who donated money into our donation jar, to all volunteers who baked, and to all volunteers who staffed our tables. Thanks go to our wonderful Madison community for its support of our Scranton Library.
