I am heartily encouraging your readers to support Adam Greenberg for State Senate. He is a man of integrity and character whom I hold up as a real-life hero to my oldest son, who is an avid baseball player.
Adam Greenberg is one of the only Guilford natives ever to beat the odds and make it to the major leagues. Tragically, his baseball career was cut short on his first day, on his first at-bat, with his parents in the stands, when a wild pitch hit him in the head: a whole lifetime of dreams and hard work over in seconds. A lesser person might have quit, but Adam didn’t give up. He fought his way back through the minors and got one more shot in the majors before having to retire from professional ball.
It’s hard for me to hold my son’s attention these days as a tween, but he was riveted when I told him that true story and said he could actually meet that man. In this day, when politics is increasingly marred by outside groups bringing their battles and their tactics into our local elections, we have to elect people of proven character who have overcome real-life adversity as Adam Greenberg has, because politics is now an uphill battle for honest candidates. He has the grit to stand up and fight back when the Hartford crowd plays hard ball to protect special interests. We need Adam Greenberg as our state senator.
