Straightforward, No-Nonsense Approach

It was four years ago at the state capital that I first heard State Representative Melissa Ziobron (R-34) speak. In her straightforward, no-nonsense style, she clearly stated that the state budget needed significant adjustment because it was unsustainable. Melissa was among the few state legislators willing to recognize and address decades of poor fiscal management. Unfortunately, the majority in the General Assembly chose to continue ignoring the facts.

Melissa recognized the potential negative impacts those earlier budgets posed to Connecticut’s overall state economic health. While states surrounding Connecticut made strategic decisions to support businesses during the recession and allow faster recovery after, Melissa fought for Connecticut to do the same. Unfortunately, the majority in the General Assembly made no adjustments to the state budget to ensure a quicker, sustainable economic recovery for Connecticut’s businesses. We live with the consequences today.

We need Melissa’s straightforward, no-nonsense approach now to ensure Connecticut’s economy has a reasonable chance to recover and sustain new growth. We need a strong advocate who will remove impediments to business growth and individual economic opportunity. Melissa is not afraid to make the hard decisions that must be made.

If your readers are concerned about their financial future and that of our state, they should vote for Melissa Ziobron for State Senate on Nov. 6.
