Small Businesses a Priority

As a member of the Economic Development Commission and a longtime resident of Old Saybrook, I believe State Representative Devin Carney (R-23) is the best choice in the upcoming election on Tuesday, Nov. 6.

In his four years, Devin has made district small businesses a priority. He is a member of both the Old Saybrook and Lyme-Old Lyme chambers of commerce and reports frequently to both groups about state policy and to hear from business owners. In addition, he is a vocal member of the bipartisan Tourism Caucus, which works collaboratively with leaders from the Saybrook Point Inn and Water’s Edge.

He understands that small businesses are the economic engine that will improve our economy and his views on economic development make sense. He wants to reduce costs on business by eliminating the business entity tax, reducing unnecessary regulations, and, most important, he won’t support adding new mandates onto business owners.

It’s no secret that it’s expensive to do business in Connecticut and that needs to change. Devin is the candidate who will focus on improving our economic climate without raising costs. He was endorsed by the Connecticut Business and Industry Association and the National Federation of Independent Business. He is my choice for state representative and he should be your readers’, too.
