Protect Connecticut Citizens

Our U.S. Senate narrowly failed to repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA) also known as Obamacare. I held my breath during that vote. Why? The ACA saved my life and kept my family from financial ruin. If the ACA is brought to repeal by a majority Republican Senate and House, then pre-existing conditions will not be covered—such things as high blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, vision problems, and cancer.

Here in Connecticut, legislatures in Hartford passed a bill that included “10 Essential Health Benefits”. Pre-existing conditions were negotiated out of the bill. The current state legislature failed to protect us.

So the Nov. 6 elections matter. The Senate will bring this repeal of the ACA back on the floor if it has a majority in either the House or Senate. Having a majority Democratic Connecticut State Senate and House will be able to protect us from ill-considered Washington decisions. It is our only way to create a check and balance and protect Connecticut citizens. I encourage your readers to consider voting for John Michael Parker for state representative in the 101st District.

I have spoken with candidate Parker on several occasions and he supports the ACA and protecting pre-existing conditions. He listens, he cares, and he will fight in Hartford to include protection for pre-existing conditions. I encourage your readers to vote for Democrats Parker and State Senate candidate Christine Cohen on Nov. 6.
