I’ve attended many political debates and events in the past few months, trying to ensure that I know what I’m doing when I cast my first ballot in the State of Connecticut on Nov. 6. As a newcomer to the state, I have spent many hours educating myself on the issues, the candidates, and the atmosphere of my new home. There are some issues and some candidates that are not completely clear to me, but there others about which I have no doubt.
One candidate I’m absolutely certain about is Christine Cohen for State Senate. Her commitment to bipartisan solutions, environmental protections, controlling prescription costs for seniors, growing the local and state economy, common-sense gun legislation, and promotion and protection of rights of marginalized citizens and her love for Connecticut is evident to me. And it matters to me. As the mother of an LGBTQ college student and of young children, and a grandmother, a gun violence prevention advocate, a primary caregiver to an elderly parent with dementia, a taxpayer, a school district employee, and a newcomer who is quickly falling in love with the shoreline and Connecticut as a whole, I feel I have great stakes in this election and I’m determined to not muck it up.
This is why I will confidently cast my vote for Christine for State Senate. I encourage your readers to look at her website, look at her endorsements, talk to her, attend events—research—then, vote wisely and confidently for Christine Cohen.
