Utmost Care and Respect

In the Memorial Town Hall by the Green, we have a District Probate Court that serves the people of both Madison and Guilford. Peter Barrett has served as the probate judge of that court for four years now. During that time, he has heard and resolved numerous cases that have involved estates and trusts, and he has streamlined the process for probate approval whenever possible. Judge Barrett has promoted an atmosphere of friendly and efficient service. As a result, residents are often able to handle their own matters without an attorney. Both the judge and the court clerks make courteous assistance a priority, aimed at uncomplicating the process for the people in court who are often already grieving.

What many people do not realize is that the Probate Court also provides a safety net for minor children, the elderly, and disabled adults in need of supervision and guardianship. These are highly sensitive, personal matters. Judge Barrett’s calm and compassionate demeanor, together with his experience and training, have ensured that each of these difficult files are handled and decided with the utmost care and respect for the families involved.

I encourage your readers to join me in reelecting Peter Barrett as our probate judge. He has served us well and he will continue to provide us with excellent service in the years to come.

Selectman Alfred Goldberg (D)
