Puts Connecticut First

I’m supporting State Representative Jesse MacLachlan (R-35) for re-election on Nov. 6 for a few important reasons. Jesse has really listened to the needs of the community, and he has stood up to a spendthrift administration and a union-backed legislature.

In my opinion, some union leadership has failed to represent the interest of its members, the hard-working people whose fees and dues are used in ways that rarely benefit them. Just look at our unfunded pension liabilities.

What impresses me about Jesse MacLachlan’s work at our statehouse is that he stands up to bad ideas and can round up enough votes to reverse them. When the governor slashed our town and school funding, Jesse and others fought to have funds reinstated, and they prevailed. Under Democratic control, the Retired Teacher’s Healthcare fund remained underfunded and imperiled; our state representative was part of the solution to financially secure the healthcare fund, instead of kicking the can down the road. When Clinton was going to lose the rail station upgrade, Jesse fought to have it reinstated.

For a small town like Clinton, Jesse is working hard to make the changes to stop the tax-and-spend mentality that has controlled Hartford for decades. In each election, fiscal responsibility is slowly returning. It can only happen when we send representatives who are willing to stand up to the self-serving influences and lobbying that dominates Hartford.

Jesse works with everyone and was endorsed by the Independent Party, because he puts Connecticut first. The Republicans, Democrats, and Independents from the shoreline have placed their trust in Jesse Maclachlan. Let’s do it again and send a representative that understands us and fights for Clinton.

Jesse has earned our vote for re-election.
