Need a Master Chef

Clinton voters should approve Question 3 and institute a town manager form of government. Our town will then have a new chance to reach its potential as one of the gems of the Connecticut shoreline. As things stand at present, poorly coordinated development, political factionalism, and increasing cynicism and despair are choking our town. Rule by political amateurs has brought us to a sad state. Some of these amateurs have been talented, some have been incompetent, and some have feathered their own nests under the guise of performing a public service. The result is squandered potential that grows by the year.

Our town government needs to be headed by an expert in municipal development who has the financial and planning acumen to revive the Route 1 corridor and develop our large empty sites. Instead of too many cooks spoiling the civic stew, we need a master chef. The town manager could help create the town we deserve to become.

Fear of fundamental change in our town government will condemn us to continue limping along with dangerously dysfunctional boards and commissions that answer to no one and accomplish little of note. We need a town manager who can revive the spirit of knowledgeable public service in Clinton, Connecticut.
