I have figured out how to decide who to vote for in our district’s State Senate election. I’m voting for me. Not literally, because I’m not running for office. What I mean is that I am voting for the candidate who is going to do more for what I want and what I believe in.
I want an end to constantly increasing property taxes. I want an end to shrinking support for the schools my kids go to. And I want to see a real solution to the financial mess in Hartford, not just sham budget cutting at the state level that leads to more taxes at the local level. So, I’m voting for the candidate who gives me the most of what I want.
In order to get all of that, a candidate has to know how to manage a budget and how to add revenues by creating jobs and attracting businesses. Norm Needleman has already done in Essex exactly what we need (and I need) in Hartford. Based on my own self-interest, I’m voting for Norm.
