Is Miles Ahead

Everybody knows that our state is in a difficult financial situation, and the politicians in Hartford seem to be at a standstill as to what to do about it. They blame unions, blame each other, blame the governor, but do not seem to be doing the difficult work that’s going to be required to find solutions that lead us back onto solid financial ground. In the past several years, when they have finally passed budgets, these budgets have been so out of whack from the day they were adopted that they only prolong our budgetary problems.

What we don’t need in Hartford is a narrow-minded budget hawk. We need a common-sense state senator for our Senate district who knows how to run a town, who knows how to develop a budget, and knows how to work with people who have different views on issues.

Norm Needleman is that person. As a fourth-term first selectman for the Town of Essex, he is miles ahead in terms of what he has actually done for his town and what he will do for our district. I noticed recently that he has received the endorsement of the Connecticut Uniformed Professional Fire Fighters’ and the Connecticut State Police unions. I am happy to join them in supporting Norm Needleman’s candidacy for the 33rd Senate District.
