Compassionate, Caring, and Sensitive

I am writing in support of Pete Barrett’s re-election as probate judge for the Madison-Guilford District. Pete has done an excellent job the last four years as our current probate judge. Pete is a competent, passionate human being and that’s what you need in this position.

Probate judge is the most non-political position in this year’s election. Pete is running as a Democrat, but the political party really is not what is important about the probate judge. As I thought about my relationship with Pete, I remember a time years ago when his son was playing basketball for Guilford High School. They had a pretty good team and made the SCC playoffs, which were in Branford. I thought I would go and support my town team and hoped I would see somebody there to sit with. I forget whether I walked in with Pete or saw him in the lobby. We talked about the team’s chances and then he said to me, “So you want to go sit down?” I thought to myself, I sure do! Guilford lost to Cross, but it was a nice afternoon spent with a nice guy.

That is the type of person Pete is. If you were to ask the top 20 adjectives to describe a lawyer, compassionate would not make many people’s list, but that is what Pete is. Compassionate, caring, sensitive to people’s concerns, and a crackerjack lawyer.

If your readers support all of the Republican candidates, I encourage them to take the time to find Peter Barrett and check off his name—he is way down on the ballot—and support this good, decent, and extremely proficient human being. Support our hometown guy!
