An Outstanding Spokesperson

I am writing in strong and enthusiastic support of Christine Cohen—small business owner, long-time community activist, and elected member of the Guilford Board of Education—to succeed me as state senator in the upcoming Nov. 6 elections.

Since taking office in January 2015, I have had the honor and privilege of representing the 12th Senate District in the Connecticut General Assembly. My decision not to seek re-election was not easy because I have truly loved serving the needs of our region’s residents and local business owners. I know that our district needs a strong voice in Hartford—a person with pragmatism, an open mind, and a civil, bipartisan orientation. I feel proud and optimistic knowing that Christine, a proven leader, stands ready to continue and build upon the practical solutions to key issues facing our state.

As a legislator, I frequently sought Christine’s advice and suggestions as a local education leader to help me be a better lawmaker advancing the needs of children and families. Christine knows that strong schools are pivotal to a community’s success, and she will be a powerful voice for teachers, students, and parents. I also called upon Christine to help me better understand and eliminate the byzantine bureaucracy, regulations, and barriers to success faced by her and many other business owners. Christine will be an outstanding spokesperson for small businesses and economic growth in our state—her background, perspective, and job-creating skill set is desperately needed in Connecticut.

The citizens of the 12th District could not ask for a better advocate than Christine Cohen. Her intellect, business skills, dedication, and broad community relationships will serve her exceedingly well in the state senate. I plan to vote for Christine Cohen as my state senator, and I hope that your readers will, too.

State Senator Ted Kennedy, Jr. (D-12)
