The Privilege and the Right

The sacred right to vote is one of the primary benefits of a Democratic nation.

At one time or another, every young person has said to himself or herself, “Who am I? And what is my worth?” That thought is part of the maturing process. One of the answers is, “I am somebody.” No matter your status, no matter if everything is going wrong, no matter if you are mired in a dead-end job, you are somebody, and be proud of it.

That is why the privilege and the right to vote is so meaningful. Your single vote is equal to the vote of the richest person in the USA. To not exercise your vote is to lose your identity. It makes you an “un-being”; to not to vote lets any demagogue control your life. As a citizen of the USA, you must participate, you must join the action. If you were an athlete, would you enjoy being a bench warmer? By not voting you are labeling yourself a quitter and a non-entity. If you don’t vote, you have no right to protest your situation, so exercise your right and do your duty. As a World War II veteran who will be 98 at election time, I encourage your readers to vote!
