Believes in the Equality of All

Christine Cohen is the Democrat running for the seat that State Senator Ted Kennedy, Jr., is vacating at the end of this term. On Nov. 6, I will cast my vote for Christine Cohen for State Senate because she promises to continue to fight for and protect our citizens with the same passion as Senator Kennedy.

We are living in perilous times, times in which protections and opportunities that past generations have fought so hard to establish are being targeted for removal. It is not an exaggeration to say that the rights and equal protections of citizens, regardless of our gender, skin color, sexual orientation, or religious beliefs, could be uprooted, here in Connecticut. Women’s reproductive rights and voters’ rights are two of many hotly debated issues at the national level. Some states have chipped away at these rights by placing legal obstacles on both those who need access to health care, and on those who are trying to cast their votes in an election.

I do not want this to happen in Connecticut, and that is why I will vote for Christine Cohen for state senator. I know that Christine will act as a firewall to prevent laws aimed at infringing on residents’ rights. She will work to uphold laws that protect both women’s reproductive freedoms as well as the right for every eligible voter to participate in elections. Christine vows to emphatically support the laws that protect all of us, regardless of our appearance, who we choose to love, or how we choose to practice our faith. She will do this because she fiercely believes in the equality of all human beings.

For all of these reasons, I will be voting for Christine Cohen on Nov. 6 and I encourage your readers to do the same.
