Will, Know-How, and Leadership

The coming two years, 2019 and 2020, will be a turning point for the State of Connecticut. Our state is heading down the wrong path. Our economy is suffering. According to the Connecticut Business and Industry Association, in 2017 Connecticut wage growth placed 46th in the country at 1.2 percent, being outpaced by inflation. The Connecticut economy is in shambles, and State Representative Bob Siegrist (R-36) understands that this issue is one of the most important facing our state.

In the past legislative session, Bob introduced H.B. 5008, which would have repealed the Business Entity Tax. This tax charges small businesses, corporations, and even sole proprietorships $250 each year for simply existing. This tax discourages entrepreneurs to establish businesses in our state as it adds another cost to operation at a time when every dollar counts. Consequently Connecticut’s overall job growth in 2017 was a dismal 0.1 percent.

Bob is informed about and understands the need to support small business and entrepreneurs in the state. His actions in Hartford, sponsoring H.B. 5437 to create tax-credits to support the training of new full-time workers, or his devotion to encouraging new business with H.B. 5008 display his commitment to re-establishing a robust economy in Connecticut. Bob has a clear economic vision for the state and has exhibited the will, the know-how, and the leadership to reinvigorate Connecticut’s economy, lower the tax burden, and ensure a prosperous state for generations.

The time for action is now. We have an opportunity to stand up to the status quo of a legislature controlled by Governor Dannel Malloy. I encourage your readers to support Republican Robert Siegrist for re-election in the 36th District: He is an agent of change in Hartford.
