Not Afraid to Stand Up

As an Independent voter, I look for candidates based on their stand on issues rather than on the basis of political ideology or partisanship. To me, having a legislator who thinks for him- or herself and always puts people over politics is important. Our state representative, Devin Carney, fits that mold and was recently endorsed by the Connecticut Independent Party in addition to being endorsed by the Republicans.

The Independent Party endorsement is fitting as Devin has bucked his party on certain issues and is not afraid to stand up to leadership in either party. In addition, he is well-intentioned, bright, fair, and hard-working. His voting record cannot be beat—he has never missed a vote and he remains dedicated to the needs and concerns of his constituents.

He is the very type of person we need representing us in these divisive political times. Someone who puts the residents of his district above everything else—and he’s got the track record to prove it. Regardless of your political party, I hope your readers will help me in re-electing Devin Carney for another successful term.
