Finding Common Ground

“Who Leads Matters.” That’s a campaign slogan I heard recently that rings true in our current fractured political environment. Happily, voters on the shoreline and the Connecticut River Valley will have the opportunity to send two qualified candidates to represent us in Hartford: Norm Needleman for State Senate and Jason Adler for state representative.

Norm Needleman, in his fourth term as first selectman of Essex, is also a successful entrepreneur employing more than 150 people. As a result, he has a wealth of problem-solving experience in both the private and public sectors. Perhaps this is why he is endorsed by people across the political spectrum.

Jason Adler, one of Clinton’s own, has first-hand knowledge of the vagaries of our health care system and is eager to promote universal access to quality care. A school counselor by trade, he is also passionate about education, and will work in Hartford to reverse the “brain drain” by keeping young people in Connecticut after graduation. Like me, Jason grew up in a bipartisan household, and knows the value of finding common ground in order to get things done.

It’s a pleasure to know that when I head to the polls on Nov. 6, I have such terrific candidates to vote for. Who leads matters, indeed.
