A Thoughtful Participant

I am writing to enthusiastically support the candidacy of Christine Cohen for State Senate, District 12. I met Christine six years ago when we both served on the board at Community Nursery School here in Guilford. She was a thoughtful participant in all discussions, and always led with a listening ear. Christine suggested several new fundraising ideas for our school and then saw them through to completion. She could be counted on not only for big ideas, but also for undertaking the difficult and often tedious work that accompanied these ideas.

My two children now attend Guilford Public Schools, so I have had several interactions with Christine in her capacity as a Board of Education member. Since her election in 2015, she has been responsive to emails and thoughtful with her advice. Over the last year, I was part of a group of parents advocating for smaller class sizes for our children. Christine heard our concerns and helped address them for this school year. My daughter and her classmates are already seeing a significant benefit.

I also count on Christine as the owner of the local business, Cohen’s Bagels. I organize two charity road races and Christine and her husband Rob can always be counted on for sponsorship and bagels for thousands. No matter the nature of my interactions with Christine, her response is always “How can I help?” and I know she will bring that attitude with her to the state legislature.
