A Big Step

We have great potential in Clinton. Most of us know that. We also know that our future depends on supporting local businesses and expanding the overall economic base.

No matter how hard we work here in Clinton, our economic development efforts have been battered by headwinds from Hartford; we’re competing for a slice of an ever-shrinking pie. Our legislature and governors have done great harm to our economy. It’s so bad that we’re not just losing business to Sun Belt states, but losing them to Massachusetts and New York—not “low tax, low regulation states” by anyone’s definition.

This status quo for Connecticut and Clinton is not an option: Losing people, jobs, businesses and opportunity is a result of years-long unbridled spending and borrowing, as well as a deaf ear to the needs of businesses that made this state great. We have to stop this; electing Melissa Ziobron as our state senator is a big step in doing just that.

Melissa is a hard-charging, full-time, smart legislator who’s been getting the right things done in Hartford as a state representative for the last six years. Aside from being a tough advocate for economic development, she serves on the Environment Committee, the General Law Committee, Connecticut Legislative Sportsmen Caucus, Connecticut Alcohol & Drug Policy Council, and as a representative to the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission—you get the picture. I encourage your readers to check out Melissa’s record themselves.

She also understands the joy of living in a small town, because she lives in one. And here’s another big plus: She’s just a great person to meet; you actually enjoy talking to her—about anything.

It’s critical to our state, and much more important to us in Clinton, that we elect Melissa Ziobron to the State Senate this November.
