Putting People First

Connecticut continues to rank high in terms of cost-of-living, unfunded mandates, and burdensome taxes, so it is important to me that we have a state representative who is focused on improving our fiscal challenges, getting our economy back on track, and making Connecticut more affordable.

As ranking member of the Transportation Committee and as a member of the Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committee, State Representative Devin Carney (R-23) has made it a priority to push for legislation that will move Connecticut on a more affordable, sustainable path. This includes supporting hard but fair state spending and bonding caps and defeating proposed tax hikes such as a cell phone tax and a new statewide property tax. He was also the lead House member to defeat the mileage tax, which would have charged everyone a tax per mile they drive.

I want my kids to be able to afford to live here, find jobs here, and raise their own families here—and I want to be able to be able to stay here in retirement. That reality is only possible if Connecticut’s fiscal matters are improved. Devin Carney has a record of putting people first and working to improve our economy without new taxes. That is why I am voting to re-elect Devin Carney, our state representative, on Nov. 6.
