Make a Better Place

The Madison Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC) is asking everyone who uses Madison streets, sidewalks, and trails to give their ideas for improving walking and cycling in Madison—to tell us what streets, sidewalks, and intersections are a problem and what they believe would improve the situation.

The committee is charged with developing a bike and pedestrian master plan for the town that will be implemented gradually over the coming years as opportunities arise and funding becomes available. The goal is to make Madison a better place to walk, run, ride a bike, use a wheelchair, or get around any way that does not include a motor vehicle.

I encourage your readers to visit the committee’s website bikewalkmadisonct.org and complete the BPAC survey, and to ask their family members and friends to do so also. These ideas will provide valuable input to the committee’s work and residents’ participation will demonstrate that many people in Madison really want improved facilities for biking and walking.

When people complete the survey, their name will be automatically entered into a raffle for a chance to win a Fitbit Versa Smart Watch. The winner will be drawn at the Bauer Festival in October.
