It’s That Simple

The voters in Clinton are still divided between those who are in favor of the currently proposed town budget and those who oppose it.

While many of those who are in favor of the budget and the resulting increased taxes depict those who oppose tax increases as against the town and town services, including police and fire protection, that’s just not accurate. This disingenuous approach is disappointing. In fact, it is actually possible for everyone on both sides to get what they want. Isn’t a win-win situation the best possible outcome?

For those in favor of a tax increase and those opposed to it to all get what they want, those in favor of the tax increase simply need to send the town the additional money now that they would be sending after a tax increase. It really is that simple. If you think you should pay more and feel good about it, just send the town a check.

Want it earmarked for a particular project such as the harbor, sports fields, dog park, or the library? Specify what you want your money to fund. You can always send the town money. It will always cash your check.

If all of those who are in favor of paying more taxes send the town more money, those who don’t want to pay more taxes won’t have to. Everyone gets what they want. Wouldn’t that be nice?

It really is that simple.
