Improve the Quality of Life

Did you know that you can help improve the quality of life in Clinton? Readers can help us make our town more friendly to pedestrians and bicycles by joining the Bicycle and Pedestrian Alliance of Clinton. We meet on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Eliot House just west of the Clinton Town Hall and are looking for new members. We can use help supporting our online presence, conveying our viewpoints at town meetings, light fundraising, planning new projects, and seeing that current ones come to fruition. Some of our recent and imminent successes include, at our urging over the last five years, the town moving forward on building a sidewalk connecting the old and new Morgan schools on Route 81. 2. We are also about to open the Clinton portion of the Shoreline Greenway, which in our case will also include a Blueway, a boating trail.

Due to our urging, help, and the generosity of some folks, a footbridge is about to be built connecting the Indian River Recreational Complex to Creampot Road on the east side of Indian River. We have also succeeded in getting the town to put up “Bike Route” signs along some north-south roads away from Route 81. This has caught the attention of the Route 81 study group, and may thus be integrated into Route 81 improvements

We’d love to see everyone.
