After the Ball is Over

Most often, when an issue or concern is resolved, we forget about the tremendous efforts that were made to get the ball over the line. There was a great deal of publicity given to the threat of a 15 percent budget reduction to transit districts prior to the state budget being set last month. 9 Town Transit, which runs buses throughout the Connecticut River Valley, was faced with losing routes and runs that would have severe negative impacts on many of our residents’ lives. So the people spoke up.

They called, wrote letters, and sent emails to their legislators. They took the time (and the bus) to attend public hearings to beg for the transit system to remain intact. And their voices were heard. They made the difference. Thanks go to them all.

Moving forward, as issues arise, we hope that riders will continue to be heard; to be their own advocates. Their efforts will not be forgotten, and are always appreciated.
