Focus on our Children

I am so sad Madison will be losing Principal Doreen O’Leary from Island Avenue School. She is a woman who is doing the job she was born to do. She communicates easily with parents and welcomes the children to school each and every day by standing at the entrance doors before the start of the first class.

Although her position has been up in the air for so long and her career, livelihood, and location has been on shaky ground due to changes in population and decisions made by the Board of Education, O’Leary has never spoken against the policies and decisions being issued. Instead, she encouraged the parents to focus on our children’s quality education at Island Avenue School, regardless of what the future held.

New York is very fortunate to be welcoming this noble, charismatic leader.
