An Unpolished Gem

Our beautiful town of Clinton needs a plan. We need to find a way to work together for development and economic growth in Clinton. The “Yes” versus “No” approach for every budget referendum has gotten us nowhere. We need to come together and take a different angle. We need to take a close look at the towns around us who have successfully navigated the current difficult economy in which we live.

So often people compare Clinton to Old Saybrook—even Branford or Westbrook—and although we may be similar in some aspects, I see massive differences in the development, support, and economies of these towns. I do not drive through these towns and see as many empty storefronts as I see in Clinton. These towns have town planners that have created thoughtful inspiring economic development plans. These communities are thriving and happily support their schools and town.

We need to rally together and support the proposed town planner and future development of Clinton. We are an unpolished gem with incredible potential just waiting for the support of our townspeople. It is time to stop complaining about what the town is taking from us and start looking for ways to improve our town so it is a desirable community that is a shining star on the shoreline.
