Must Have Access

This Memorial Day, we remember our fallen heroes and celebrate the freedom and liberty that we enjoy because of their sacrifice. No freedom is more important than the right to vote in free and fair elections. But to even hold an election, of course, candidates must have access to the ballot.

I’m saddened to write that Andy Gottlieb, a young progressive (and former Guilford High School co-valedictorian) with a strong policy and legislative background, was denied a spot on the ballot at the recent 12th District Democratic Senate Convention. Now Andy is fighting to get access to the ballot by collecting signatures from registered Democrats in Madison, Guilford, Branford, North Branford, Killingworth, and Durham. He needs more than 1,000 signatures by June 12.

I encourage your readers to help Andy out by signing his petition. They can call him at 203-350-9335, email him at andyct2018@gmail.com, or meet him at the Madison Starbucks on the day before they’re due, Monday, June 11, any time between 5 and 9:30 a.m. Outside of those hours, he might show up at readers doors!
