Support is Appreciated

The Guilford High School girls swim team would like to thank the Guilford community for taking part in our first-ever Shred Day on May 12. The fundraiser supported the girls swim team in its inaugural season as a varsity sport, while shredding lots and lots of paper.

Special thanks to the good folks at The Shredding Source, a Guilford company that supplied the shred truck, a truck that we filled to capacity. We would also like to thank Joe Ametrano from Ashley’s Ice Cream, along with the rest of the businesses at Sachem’s Square—Sachem Card and Party Shop, Guilford Sporting Goods, AT&T, Shoreline Children’s Dentistry, and Subway—for allowing us to take over their parking lot for the morning. Last, thanks to the Guilford community members who supported our efforts to start a swim team this year.

We are a pay-to-play sport, meaning we have to supply our own funding to rent a pool, pay for the bus, and compete. The community’s support is appreciated and the girls are looking forward to year two in the pool this coming fall. I encourage your readers to save the date for the second Saturday in May 2019 and we’ll shred again!
