Some Underlying Reason

I agree with the May 10 letter from Chris Penders regarding the disgraceful $300,000 cut in the Scranton Library budget [“Have Done a Disservice”]. In a budget of more than $80 million, to take $300,000 from the library is simply ridiculous.

The Scranton Library is a valuable resource for many in the town of Madison. Even someone with no budgeting experience should be able to find a way to restore the $300,000. Frankly, I wonder if there is some underlying reason for this cut. It doesn’t seem that this relatively modest reduction in a budget of more than $80 million makes any sense.
