Leadership and Stewardship

A number of years ago the leadership of our present Board of Selectmen put forth a grandiose, $4 million plan for a new Town Hall, and wisely the voters turned it down by a 2 to 1 margin in a town referendum.

Not to be detoured in its efforts, this administration has since embarked on a plan to allow the back portion of the building to show signs of neglect, and thus necessitate a new Town Hall project.

When the front of the Town Hall was painted, the back portion was not. Why? The trim on the back portion of the Town Hall between the siding and the skirt is deteriorating, and no effort is being made to repair it. The stairs and handicap walkway are not being properly maintained as well. Why?

How long before once again the taxpayers are presented with a multi-million dollar plan to renovate our Town Hall? I suggest that this administration start taking care of our present Town Hall, and abandon its obvious effort to overturn the will of the voters.

They is money in the capital budget for repairs to this portion of the Town Hall. Why are they not using it? Someone has got to show a little leadership and stewardship in this area before things get even worst.
