An Extremely Negative Effect

The $200,000 cut to the Madison library is going to have an extremely negative effect on the townspeople of Madison who rely so very much on the evening hours and the weekend hours. The fact that as many as eight library staff members will also be let go is truly unconscionable. How does square footage of a library have anything to do with the need for knowledgeable staff?

I am hoping that both the Board of Selectmen and the Board of Finance will reconsider reinstating the needed funds for our much-used and -needed library and that the hours of operation as well as the wonderful staff will remain intact.
