Reinstate the Needed Funds

In Madison, we are privileged and very proud to have such a facility where we can go to and enjoy. From the very young, to teens, and older patrons, we all recognize that our library provides us with so many excellent events. Among these are art, music, instructional programs, and social opportunities. They are not only available to Madison residents, but to those in surrounding towns as well.

As a long standing member of the Scranton Library Friends, I have come to appreciate how much effort and organizational skills go into the operation and running of such a library. As patrons, we know the quality and efficiency of service the staff has been providing to us throughout its long years of service to our community.

We the public know it is not an easy job to make these hard decisions, considering the status of the budget. It would be a shame and disappointment to our town to let dollars determine and curtail the ability of the staff in the performance of its present duties, and prepare for the future planning of the new library, to which we are all looking forward and for which we voted in the referendum vote.

As a patron and contributing member to the library’s operation, I sincerely hope that both the Board of Selectmen and the Board of Finance reconsider reinstating the needed funds to allow the library to provide us with the excellent services we have come to expect and look forward to using during this transitional period, and also well into the future.
