The Quality of the Town

My husband and I have lived in Madison for 20 years and have always considered the Scranton Library an illustration of the quality of the town.

I am writing this from Honolulu where we are vacationing. In our section of Honolulu, Manoa, we have a large, new library. The only problem is it has limited hours, much like the hours that would become a reality if the Scranton Library loses so much funding.

I am reminded of a quote of Andrew Carnegie, the founder of the library system in our country: “A library outranks any other one thing community can do to benefit its people. It is a never-failing spring in the desert.” The Scranton Library should not be jeopardized.
