04/11/2018 08:00 AMI was interested in reading your March 29 column, “Planning for Passover,” but was confused with its content. The majority of the piece revolved around the author’s St. Patrick’s Day experience; Passover was not mentioned until the last few sentences in the piece. The author then goes on to say she would make either a brisket or a ham recipe. I believe Ms. White needs to brush up on Jewish traditions. Even if a family does not keep the kosher laws, they are observed on the holy days, especially Passover. Ham is not an acceptable dish, nor is a creamed side dish if there is meat on the table.
Out of respect for the holiday, either write a piece on St. Patrick’s day or a piece on Passover. And if you are going to write a piece on planning a Passover meal, consult a few Jewish folks to make sure you give your readers correct information.
