Out of Respect
I was interested in reading your March 29 column, “Planning for Passover,” but was confused with its content. The majority of the piece revolved around the author’s St. Patrick’s Day experience; Passover was not mentioned until the last few sentences in the piece. The author then goes on to say she would make either a brisket or a ham recipe. I believe Ms. White needs to brush up on Jewish traditions. Even if a family does not keep the kosher laws, they are observed on the holy days, especially Passover. Ham is not an acceptable dish, nor is a creamed side dish if there is meat on the table.
Out of respect for the holiday, either write a piece on St. Patrick’s day or a piece on Passover. And if you are going to write a piece on planning a Passover meal, consult a few Jewish folks to make sure you give your readers correct information.
