The Sky is the Limit

Every year, the town tells Guilford residents they need more than the previous year. This year, we will see a 6.6 percent mill rate increase. How you fare on your tax bill will depend on your most recent revaluation, but the broader question is whether or not these annual budgets and resulting tax increases are indefinitely sustainable.

If the voters don’t believe they are, they need to send a message to the Board of Selectmen and Board of Education by voting “No” in the upcoming budget referendum on Tuesday, April 10. It’s time to put the brakes on spending. Otherwise, the sky is the limit when it comes to our taxes.
