Protect Guilford’s Character

A 50,000 square foot, three-story big box storage building that will be lit up 24-7. That’s what UHaul is proposing to build on Boston Post Road at the eastern gateway to Guilford. This building would be one of Guilford’s largest, similar in size to the big building at Concept Park (741 Boston Post Road), yet perched on the crest of a hill where property values of its adjacent neighborhoods would likely suffer.

We would all see three offensive stories of UHaul’s brightly lit orange doors, day and night! Is this commercial monstrosity something Guilford truly needs?

If this building is approved, I’m concerned that Guilford will look more like Route 1 in Milford than the charming historic shoreline town that it is. I encourage your readers to join me to protect Guilford’s character by speaking out at the Planning & Zoning Commission’s public hearing on March 21 at 7:30 p.m. at the Guilford Community Center.
