Residents Would Like to Know

I have heard that Mayor Joseph Maturo. Jr., has recently been in an accident with his town vehicle and it was allegedly totaled. Most important, neither party was hurt. According to the Connecticut Uniform Police Crash Report, the mayor was at fault for violation of CGS 14-245 failure to yield right of way.

The accident occurred in New Haven and I have two questions. First, was a ticket issued for being at fault and did the town force him to take a drug and alcohol test, as all other town employees would have to do in the same situation? My guess is he did not. The mayor should have led by example and volunteered for the test and made the results public.

I have also heard his replacement vehicle is a brand-new Dodge Charger with a Police Interceptor engine. This type of vehicle is befitting to our Police Department or a spoiled rich kid, not the highest elected official of the town. Given his vehicle history, the last thing he needs to be rewarded with is more horsepower. As a newly elected member of the Board of Finance, I will be inquiring as to where and how this was funded. I am sure the residents would like to know as well.
