A Hotly Contested Race

The Madison Chamber of Commerce had a wonderful show of support from the community as well as local restaurants and civic organizations at the Jan. 27 Souper Bowl in downtown Madison. Approximately 400 people turned out to taste and then vote for the best soup and chili in town!

In a hotly contested race, awards went to: First Place Chili: Madison Hose Company No. 1 (by a nose!), Second Place Chili — North Madison Volunteer Fire Department, and Third Place Chili — Vista Life Innovations. First Place Soup — Donahue’s (by one vote!), Second Place Soup — Madison Beach Hotel, Third Place Soup — Madison Senior Center.

Other participants, all offering delicious soups, were Brother Mike’s, Café Allegre, The Country School, Eclectic Café, RJ Café and Bistro, and The School House Deli.

This is the third year the Chamber has held the Souper Bowl in late January, but the first time we enjoyed 50 degree weather for the event. Many thanks go to our volunteers: Dave Anderson, Tom Banisch, Rachel Blundon Klein, Beth Coyne, Carly Callahan, John Ceneri, Kim Chorney, Kathy Dann, Michael Hafford, Beth McDevitt, Ed Pellegrino, and Carlene Weis. Our generous sponsors were Kirsten Adams of Williamm Pitt/Sotheby’s, The Country School of Madison, Madison Beach Hotel, North Madison Fire Department, RJ Café & Bistro, and Renewal by Andersen.

The Chamber looks forward to bringing more exciting events to the wonderful Town of Madison, and thanks everyone for their support.
