Made It a Memorable Day

On Jan. 13, East Haven Rotary hosted the 17th annual Ben Mazzucco Clothe the Children Program. Sixty-eight deserving East Haven elementary school children with their parents met Rotarians at Kohls in Branford to shop for $100 per child of needed clothing.

Clothe the Children is made possible by the kindness and generosity of many.

Rotary is grateful to Jaymi Hollingsworth, organizational manager of Kohls, who graciously sets the date for Clothe the Children to allow our shoppers to benefit from their after holiday sales, and this year Kohls extended an additional 30 percent discount, allowing Rotary to purchase up to $145.00 of needed clothing for each child!

Rotary is grateful to Superintendent of Schools Erica Forti for allowing us to partner with East Haven elementary schools.

We are thankful to partner with elementary school principals/administrators who provide Rotary a list of deserving children to participate in Clothe the Children. We are grateful to the amazing elementary school students and middle school members of the junior national honor society, who guided by their teachers, raise a substantial amount of money for the program from Kids helping Kids fundraiser events!

We also thank Mayor Joseph Maturo, Jr., individual donors, and East Haven businesses whose contributions helped Rotary host another year of the Ben Mazzucco Clothe the Children Program.

To see the children’s happy faces and to hear their enthusiastic thank-yous made it a memorable day for Rotarians.
