Choose Love and Kindness

As the president of the Madison SEPTO, I would like to commend all of the community members, leaders, and school officials who attended Scarlett Lewis’s presentation about The Jesse Lewis: Choose Love Movement on Jan. 10. Thanks go to the Madison Senior Center for hosting the presentation. Lewis’s message of choosing love every day resonates beyond the Madison special needs community; our community also has families and neighbors that struggle with poverty, mental health issues, substance abuse, domestic violence, sexual harassment, and other issues.

Our social and emotional health as a society is a true reflection of what struggles individuals have. We can learn from Scarlett Lewis and Sandy Hook to choose compassion, kindness, and love, which form the stepping stones to a positive society. Madison SEPTO encourages everyone to choose love and kindness every day in their lives and in our community.
