Hard to Comprehend

I have lived in Guilford for 75 years. I have lived on Nut Plains Road for 62 years. I have seen many changes in Guilford, some forever, not for better. The erosion of peoples’ character is the most troubling change.

I am dismayed that the Nut Plains Path project was proposed by mothers not living on the road. Most of us feel devalued that this project moved forward behind the scenes without any knowledge or information of this project given to us, the property owners.

Many of us live in modest homes with little front yard expanse. We cherish what we have: trees, stonewalls, plantings, and privacy.

Seventy-eight of our signs communicating that we don’t want this path were stolen Saturday night, Nov. 25. The lack of respect for people and their property is so disturbing.

I reiterate the erosion of peoples’ character is most troubling. It is hard to comprehend people feeling entitled to take from others for their own desires.
