A Community That Truly Cares

How many times have we heard or even used these expressions—“Where are the kids?” or “What are they doing?” I think we all have uttered those words at some time or another. I am very pleased to report I know exactly what some of our Clinton children are doing. These are just two examples as I know again for a fact that there are many other examples of what our youth are doing.

For the past decade—yes, I did say the past decade—The Joel School children have conducted their annual food drive. This food drive raised thousands upon thousands of pounds of food that has helped many Clinton families who are going through some difficult times. In those 10 years, many children have passed through the doors of The Joel School and all have left knowing that sharing and caring are two life lessons that they will carry with them forever.

The Clinton Police Youth Group was started last year and over the past year the number joining this group has expanded. This year they decided to have their own food drive; just prior to Thanksgiving, they did just that. More than 850 pounds of food and more than $500 were raised and all were given to Families Helping Families. For a first-time effort, the results were remarkable.

So again I’m happy to report that I do know where the kids are and what they are doing. In Clinton, they are helping make this a community that truly cares and shares. How blessed we are that they are the future adults of Clinton.
