Despite the Rain

I would like to thank the units that marched in the rain in the Branford Veterans Day Parade on Sunday, Nov. 5 as well as the town residents and neighbors from area towns that came to Branford to support those who served in the military. The early forecast led us to believe the rain would hold off, so we reached out to the marching groups and the public through social media to tell them the parade was on. Despite the rain, more of the public attended the ceremony and parade than in the recent past. We made an effort in our pre-parade announcements to say that unless attendance improved this year we would just have a ceremony in the future. We were pleased that the residents showed their support and I expect our committee will recommend having a Veterans Day Parade again in 2018.
