Above and Beyond the Call

We would like to extend a sincere thank you on behalf of all our veterans to all the nursing homes in Madison—The Hearth at Tuxis Pond, Watrous, and Madison House—along with the schools—Daniel Hand, Polson, Jeffrey, Our Lady of Mercy, and Ryerson—offering sincere appreciation and commending all for both hosting and putting on such special and unique programs commemorating veterans in both among their parents and relatives along with our local veterans. All of the managers of the nursing homes and principals of the schools went above and beyond the call of duty. The veterans were overwhelmed.

We would also like to thank the Town of Madison for coming out on Veterans Day to our service on the Green and the reception sponsored by the Madison Historical Society. The rendition of the “Star Spangled Banner” by Daniel Hand High School student Aiden Gaffney took everyone’s breath away.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars also donated two copies of the new volume Brutal Battles of the Vietnam War to both the Daniel Hand High School Library and the E.G. Scranton Library.

There will be a Pearl Harbor Memorial Service on Thursday, Dec 7 at the Griswold Post 79 on Bradley Road starting at noon.
