Discussions Not Signs

I don’t like these negative signs sprouting up along Nut Plains Road. I am certain some of us would like to see a path installed so that we can avoid the shock of driving around a corner and barely missing a biker or jogger.

Good compromises have been suggested, such as a narrower path and/or one made of cinders instead of concrete. We could wait until Elizabeth Evarts’s beautiful ancient maple dies a natural death, or, what may take longer, the telephone company agrees to place its poles further apart.

I would like to suggest another alternative: make part or all of Nut Plains Road one-way. A one-way road would make us residents have to go a longer route into or out of town using Goose Lane and Route 77, but most might find it worth it to retain this lovely, curb-free road, which I fear will be widened and its country look destroyed by the improvements that are planned, even if the pathway is not built.

Let’s have discussions rather than these signs, which make people angry.
