The Exceptional Team

As vice chair of the Madison Republican Town Committee, I’m proud of the exceptional team we have assembled for this year’s slate.

The Board of Finance candidates each bring a unique perspective to the board. Jean Fitzgerald has not only served on Madison’s Board of Education for eight years (two as chair), she also chairs Madison’s Capital Improvement Program. Ken Kaminsky holds extensive experience in executive management, business development, relationship management, strategic planning, and structured finance. Peter Roos has spent 30-plus years in the financial services industry. His wealth of knowledge and experience will be needed as we face continued cuts in state funding.

Our Board of Education (BOE) candidates are also exceptional. Jessica Bowler has served on the BOE since 2013, has chaired the Planning Committee, served as secretary on the executive committee and is a member the BOE Finance Committee. Dr. Violet McNerney will apply her experience assisting students and families to strategic educational planning with a focus on fiscal responsibility. Kirk Barneby believes that resources of every kind must be totally understood and utilized in every way so that our children are fully prepared for their future.

Though not contested, our Board of Selectmen candidates are impressive. Selectman Bruce Wilson returns, offering vast experience in the business world as well as a fair and balanced perspective. “Newcomer” Jean Ferris is a Madison native with wide-ranging experience not only in the financial services industry, but as a past president of both Rotary and the Chamber of Commerce. First Selectman Tom Banisch has done a great job for the past two years, navigating the problems we’ve faced from the state, and will continue his common sense approach as he leads this team of capable candidates.

I encourage your readers to vote for the Republican Team on Nov. 7!
