On-the-Job Experience

My name is Mary Jane (Burgess) Morelli and I have been a resident of Clinton for more than 39 years. I raised my three children in Clinton and all three of them are successful adults who graduated from the Clinton Public School System. I also was fortunate to be employed by the Town of Clinton as a school teacher for 30 years. I spent 10 years as a homebound tutor and 20 years in the classroom; two years at The Morgan School and 18 years at Jared Eliot School. I really love the town of Clinton.

During my many years of teaching I learned that there was nothing like firsthand knowledge and on the job experience to really fully understand my students and their needs.

At the upcoming election on Tuesday, Nov. 7, voters will have the opportunity to elect a new member to the Board of Police Commission with actual police knowledge and on the job experience. My husband, Dominic Morelli, who also has a degree in police science/criminal justice, has 34 years of law enforcement experience.

We, the voters of Clinton are able to elect a police commissioner whose on-the-job experience and knowledge of law enforcement will enhance the quality of our police board.

On Nov. 7, I encourage your readers to vote for Dominic Morelli on the backside of the ballot on Line 28B. The Board of Police Commission will gain a commissioner with the qualifications and job experience who is concerned about the needs of all Clinton residents and who also understands the responsibilities and duties of a police officer.
