Just the Right Time

Have we arrived at an important moment in our treasured town of Clinton, with opportunities in the near future to make improvements? As I look forward to the municipal election on Nov. 7, it certainly feels that way to me.

Could the old Morgan School site yet be an asset if we can just attract the right developer? And how about the idle Unilever facility, with its Art Deco façade and proximity to the promise of an updated train station? Can we imagine a positive transformation for our town center? Is it possible that the beautiful new Morgan School, opening on to an expanse of ball fields, a complex that is brimming with promise for Clinton citizens young and old, could this just be the start of a new era for our town? I would like to think so.

How can we improve our chances of realizing the potential before us? Clearly we will need energetic new leadership, an abidingly positive outlook ,and an array of management, planning, and business skills that will improve our chances of attracting the kinds of develop we can all welcome.

I watched, at arm’s distance, as Christine Goupil built loyal support and assembled a team to lead our town. Her organizational skills, planning and development experience, interpersonal talent and compassion, clear-eyed perspective, and dedication are available to us at just the right time. I am reminded yet again how fortunate we are to live in this town.

For me, Clinton’s future seems brightest with Christine Goupil as our first selectman. For me, realizing Clinton’s potential means electing Christine and her team to lead our treasured town. I encourage all readers to join me in voting for Clinton’s best and highest interests, by voting for Christine.
